Drummer/Producer
Newell Canfield - Drummer/Producer - Founder of Project J Records. Born in Albany, New York - Played professionally from the age of 13 before moving to Los Angeles in 1976. Attended Pasadena City College under the direction of coronetist. jazz historian, and mentor Bobby Bradford. Played local sessions and venues in the Los Angeles area, toured Europe in 1978 for the Department of Defense (DOD shows), and returned to Los Angeles to pursue higher education. Attended Cal State University Los Angeles earning a B.A. degree in 1986. Received an M.S.W. degree in 1996. Currently pursueing a doctoral degree in education at Cal State University San Bernardino. Employed as an educator, counselor, and is currently working as a consultant specializing in drop-out prevention. Combines background as an educator, counselor, consultant, and musician to help inner-city youth stay in school and get on to college. Produced and played drums on the album entitled Cheryl Conley Santa Baby that was released November 2004. Currently working on a new album dedicated to Nancy Wilson - Cheryl Conley will once again handle the vocals.
